Surgical Technique
H incision on the dorsal side of the DIP (with sectioning of extensor tendon).
Release the DIP joint and resect the articular osteophytes.
Manually ream the bone surface in order to obtain a flat surface.
Pierce the proximal portion with a 2mm diameter drill. Then use the provided burr.
Use the "START" rasp to enlarge the opening.
Finish with the P2 rasp (in case of dense bone use the P3 rasp as an intermediary).
Test with the trial implant in the proximal section.
Repeat steps 3-7 for the distal preparation, except finish with the P3 rasp.
Insert the Trial to check for the desired angle. Insert proximal portion first.
Check that the trial implant is well positioned using X-rays: SIDE
Check that the trial implant is well positioned using X-rays: FRONT
Use the supplied clamp to tighten the legs on the proximal side.
Insert the implant into the middle phalange.
Impact using the impactor.
Use the clamp to tighten the legs on the distal side, then distract the distal phalange over the implant.
Compress the DIP joint and verify fixation.
Verify with X-ray before closure.
